This little hotel offers a decent value to solo travelers, with a convenient location near Brooklyn attractions and easy access to public transit via the R train a couple blocks away. I've made last-minute bookings here a couple times when I've had to change plans due to flight cancellations and whatnot, and I have not been dissatisfied. The building does have a bit of "character," what with the shuttered businesses next door, the "Armed guard on duty" sign and the glassed-in front desk (tastefully shown without the bulletproof glass in the property photos), but I've never felt unsafe walking around this area any time of day or night. The rooms are tiny -- not much bigger than the bed. There's a tiny desk, a mini-fridge and single-serve coffee maker in the room, as well as a clean bathroom with a shower and hair dryer. The window has a pull-down shade showing scenic views of the city. Open it up, and you have a scenic view of a little enclosed courtyard full of junk. Presumably some of the rooms overlook the street, but I've yet to experience one. If you're traveling with a family, this probably isn't the place for you. There's just no space, you'll be tripping over one another to change clothes or go to the bathroom. But for a solo traveler on a budget wanting accommodations in Brooklyn, it can be a good option. Unlike many of the other "budget" hotels in NYC, solo women might be comfortable here.

We always felt incredibly welcome and safe when coming back to the hotel. There was always someone at the desk, even late at night. The location is a quick walk from the subway and shops. We had a great stay, thank you!

They're pretty good at checking people in quickly and efficiently only thing is that you have to walk up the stairs to get the elevator or you can take the elevator to the elevator which is crazy I am walking up the stairs are not that bad unless you have luggage on a wheelchair or baby carriage you have to take the left to the next floor up and then take another elevator to the separation of elevators is the only issue then that's it other than that the place is clean it's right next to the train station

Great location, very easy to go to any place in Manhattan from Union St. Station. Close to a nice shopping center. Very safe neighborhood with lots of restaurants over the 4th avenue. We arrived very late and the area was always very safe and easy to walk by from the subway station. The room was clean, although small, but with great views and great service staff that cleaned it every day of our stay. We enjoyed the stay, it allowed us to have a cheap alternative to Manhattan's hotels which lacked private bathrooms. I think it's the kind of place for those that go to the hotel just to sleep after a long day, fellow adventurers!

No frills, and rooms aren't exactly spacious. But it's been remodeled they have a friendly staff (also a good bathroom, and a small fridge!), and a convenient Park Slop location: near to Union Street station, and not too far from the much bigger Atlantic-Barclays station.
